At Digital Writer Success, you’re going to get tips, tools, and advice on how to turn your words into income online!
Since 1998, I’ve been getting paid to write online through my own websites/blogs, as a freelance writer, and an author. While there are a ton of resources giving tips and information on how to blog, write, OR publish a book, none integrated all three with a focus on the Internet, which didn’t make sense to me because it’s how I make my living. It’s a good living and one anyone who can string words together coherently into content people want to read can have.
Hi! My name is Leslie Truex and I’m an accidental digital writer.
I never set out to make a living writing. In fact, if you told me in high school that I’d end up having a writing career, I’d think you were nuts. But in my quest to earn a living from home, primarily from the Internet, writing was pretty much the only way to achieve my goal, particularly in 1998 when things like audio and video were nearly non-existent on the Internet.
My digital income is varied and my hope is to offer all the different options available to you. Currently, I earn income in the digital world through blogging, freelance writing for other online media, publishing digital courses through my blogs and e-publishing through ebook retailers, such as Amazon. I’m the author of The Work-At-Home Success Bible (Adams Media) and Jobs Online: How to Find and Get Hired to a Work-At-Home.
My most recent book, Digital Writer Success: How to Make a Living Blogging, Freelance Writing, & Publishing Onlineprovides step-by-step instructions plus tons of resources to turn your words into income on the Internet through blogging, freelance writing, and publishing books (traditionally or self-pub). It also offers details on platform building and marketing, which is so crucial to all forms of writing. And finally, it shows you how to integrate all three into a well-rounded online writing career.
I freelance write articles in the areas of small business and careers, health and wellness, and parenting. I’m the Home Business Expert at About.com (now called The Balance). My work has also been featured in a variety of online media outlets including Entrepreneur.com, Yahoo! Small Business, Lenovo’s small business site, LIVESTRONG, several newspaper websites and more.
When I’m not writing about working at home, belly fat or writing, I’m authoring fiction under a pen name. Currently I have five self-published sexy cozy mysteries, the first book of which reached the quarter-finals of the Amazon Breakout Novel Award in 2013. I have a traditionally published 3-book romance series. My next fiction works include two different cozy mystery series.
Along with writing, I enjoy teaching and speaking about writing and publishing, as well as being involved in the writing community. I’ve spoken at the Virginia Festival of the Book, the Virginia Writers Club annual symposium, and at other writing-related venues. I teach blogging, freelance writing, and novel writing and publishing courses through Piedmont Virginia Community College’s Workforce Services.
I’m the 1st Vice President of the Virginia Writers Club, and am a member of Sisters In Crime.
Although I didn’t set out to be a writer, I’ve found it to be flexible and fun. It can even make money, if you do the right activities. Whether you want to blog, freelance write, epublish or do all three, Digital Writer Success is here to help.
